Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 Adds Console Mods With a Trophy Restriction

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 adds console mods, dual-wielding, new quests and DLSS 4.5. Modded saves block trophies and achievements on consoles.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 brings mod support to consoles through an in-game browser, but playing from a modded save prevents players from earning trophies and achievements on those systems. The free patch also introduces dual-wielding, new quests and DLSS 4.5, with the graphics improvements and available features varying by hardware.

Arriving after the Netflix premiere of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, the update combines content inspired by the anime with new ways to customize V, several quality-of-life changes and graphics upgrades. CD PROJEKT RED has scheduled the main rollout for 22 October 2026, with Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version following later.

Console mods arrive with an achievement restriction

Update 2.5 introduces cross-platform mod support powered by mod.io. Players can browse and install a selection of community-created mods directly from the game’s menu instead of relying on external installation tools.

CDPR lists PC, Mac, PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 as supported platforms. The initial selection will expand over time, although this does not mean every existing PC mod will automatically become available on consoles.

The more important distinction concerns save files. On consoles, trophies and achievements cannot be earned while playing from a modded save. The Load Game menu now marks those saves with a dedicated icon, making them easier to identify.

Players who care about achievements should keep a separate, unmodded save before experimenting. CDPR has not clarified whether removing mods restores achievement eligibility to a previously modded save. Until that behavior is confirmed, keeping clean and modded playthroughs separate is the safer approach.

Dual-wielding and three quests expand the gameplay

The new Double Trouble perk introduces dual-wielding for Power pistols and revolvers. Found in the Cool skill tree, it comes with four supporting perks that expand the new combat option.

This is not universal dual-wielding for every handgun. The announced feature specifically covers weapons in the Power category, giving players another reason to experiment with pistol-focused builds without extending the mechanic to Smart or Tech weapons.

Three quests also provide new reasons to explore Night City:

  • Clampdown: An Edgerunners 2 prequel quest that becomes available after completing The Heist and two gigs for Wakako, followed by a message from her. It includes a five-piece gear set inspired by King.
  • Welcome to Paradise: A guided tour of Night City narrated by Richard Night. Players must complete The Heist and reach Street Cred 15 to unlock it.
  • Minor Arcana: An extension of Fool on the Hill that begins after scanning one of 12 newly added tarot cards. Collecting all 12 unlocks a special reward.

The anime crossover also brings HKGN 102.0 FM, a radio station featuring music from the Edgerunners series. Between the prequel quest, collectible gear and soundtrack additions, the crossover extends beyond cosmetic references.

Glamdocs, new outfits and Photo Mode additions expand customization

Five new Glamdocs let players change the appearance of equipped arm cyberware, including Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire and the Projectile Launch System. Their shops appear on the map with spray-paint icons, and each offers its own selection of skins and colors.

Clothing vendors receive the Maxiwear, Jinguji, NetWatch and IconAmerica outfit collections, with another set planned for later. The NUS Infiltrator clothing set is also available in Kabuki and Japantown. Some hairstyles previously limited to NPCs can now be used by V, subject to body-type restrictions.

Photo Mode gains frames inspired by the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game and poses designed for dual-wielding. Four new Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech TWINTONE skins are also offered through Twitch Drops, rather than the regular clothing vendors.

DLSS 4.5 offers different upgrades across RTX generations

On PC, one of the largest technical changes is the move to DLSS 4.5. Cyberpunk 2077 gains Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and updated AI models for Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction and Multi Frame Generation.

The feature names sound similar, but the available options depend on which GeForce RTX card is installed:

  • RTX 20 and RTX 30: Support DLSS Super Resolution, DLAA and Ray Reconstruction, but not DLSS Frame Generation.
  • RTX 40: Adds conventional DLSS Frame Generation, but does not support Multi Frame Generation.
  • RTX 50: Supports Multi Frame Generation, including the new Dynamic mode and up to 6X frame generation.

In 6X mode, NVIDIA can generate up to five additional display frames for each traditionally rendered frame. Dynamic Multi Frame Generation adjusts that multiplier according to the target frame rate. These generated frames can improve displayed smoothness, but they do not make the underlying game simulation run six times faster.

There is another distinction for owners of older RTX cards. NVIDIA says its newer Super Resolution models M and L have a heavier processing cost on RTX 20 and RTX 30 GPUs because those generations lack native FP8 support. The company suggests that users may prefer the earlier model K when it provides a better balance between reconstruction quality and performance.

GTR analysis: An RTX 3070 owner and an RTX 5070 owner are not receiving equivalent upgrades simply because both can use DLSS 4.5 technology. The former’s main decision is whether improved reconstruction justifies its processing cost. The latter can also use Multi Frame Generation to increase displayed frame rates. Actual image stability, responsiveness and performance still need to be evaluated separately.

FSR changes, MetalFX and display improvements round out the graphics update

AMD users will notice a revised set of FSR options. CDPR has removed FSR 3 upscaling while retaining FSR 2.1, FSR 4 and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation. An FSR Anti-Lag 2 toggle has also been added to the settings.

That distinction is important: upscaling reconstructs an image from a lower rendering resolution, while frame generation creates additional frames for display. Removing one FSR upscaling option therefore does not mean AMD’s frame-generation feature has also disappeared.

On Mac, Update 2.5 adds MetalFX Frame Interpolation. Compatible Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors also gain glasses-free 3D effects, with a Motion Comfort option for adjusting viewing comfort and depth.

CDPR additionally lists performance optimizations for ray tracing and PS5 Pro, alongside improvements to HDR rendering. These are announced changes rather than independently measured performance gains; the patch notes do not establish how much faster a particular GPU or console will run the game.

The 22 October rollout excludes Switch 2 and the Mac App Store

CDPR has scheduled Update 2.5 for 22 October 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Mac players using Steam, GOG or the Epic Games Store are included in that initial rollout.

Separately from Update 2.5, Cyberpunk 2077 now supports Xbox Play Anywhere. Eligible digital purchases through the Xbox Store provide access to the game on Xbox consoles and Windows PC without buying the base game twice, with progress shared through Xbox cloud saves. This is a separate storefront benefit, not a feature introduced by the patch. Xbox One remains outside the Update 2.5 rollout.

Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version are expected in the following days, without an exact date announced in the patch notes. Although Switch 2 appears on the supported modding-platform list, that does not place its update in the initial release window. The event is also tracked in the GTR release calendar.

Several smaller changes are worth checking once the patch reaches each platform. Console players gain an FOV slider, while the Load Game menu now groups saves by playthrough. Apartment and vehicle stashes receive item filters.

Targeted fixes address PS5 HDR settings that previously had no effect, a Switch 2 save error that could incorrectly report insufficient storage, and a Delamain cab becoming stuck during Things Done Changed. The update also fixes Film Grain behavior and several controller-related issues.

For players returning to Night City, the clearest immediate changes are the new quests, dual-wielding and expanded customization. For PC players evaluating DLSS 4.5 or the revised FSR options, the useful comparison remains image quality, actual rendering performance and input response—not the displayed FPS figure alone.
