Nintendo will end service for Mario Kart Tour on September 29, 2026, at 11:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Once the servers close, the mobile racing game will no longer be available to play, and Nintendo says it does not plan to release an offline version.
The shutdown brings the seven-year run of Mario Kart Tour to an end. The game launched for Android and iOS in 2019 and adapted the Mario Kart formula for smartphones with touch controls, rotating tours, unlockable drivers and courses inspired by real-world cities.
Mario Kart Tour service ends September 29
Nintendo announced the end-of-service date through the game’s official support site. Mario Kart Tour will remain playable until 10:59 p.m. Pacific Time on September 29, with service ending one minute later.
The notice does not describe a reduced post-shutdown mode. Because Mario Kart Tour depends on Nintendo’s online infrastructure, the closure means players will lose access to races, progression, unlocked content and other game features when the servers are taken offline.
Nintendo has published separate support notices explaining how paid currency and Gold Pass subscriptions will be handled during the remaining weeks.
Ruby sales have already ended
Nintendo stopped selling rubies at 11:00 p.m. Pacific Time on July 7. Players who still have rubies in their accounts can continue using them in the Spotlight Shop, Mii Racing Suit Shop and Coin Rush until service ends.
The end of ruby sales prevents players from purchasing more premium currency shortly before the shutdown. Existing balances remain usable, but they will lose their value once Mario Kart Tour becomes unavailable.
Players should therefore review their remaining balance and use any rubies they intend to spend before the September deadline.
Gold Pass subscriptions are changing
New Mario Kart Tour Gold Pass subscriptions and automatic renewals were also stopped during maintenance on July 7.
Players whose subscriptions extended beyond that maintenance period can continue receiving most Gold Pass benefits for free until service ends. Continuous-subscription rewards are excluded from that arrangement.
Nintendo also says players who were not subscribed when maintenance began will receive free access to most Gold Pass benefits beginning with the Vacation Tour on August 4. The free-access period will continue until September 29.
Those benefits include Gold Gifts, Gold Challenges, access to 200cc races, increased daily limits for base points and coins, faster multiplayer pipe progress and a higher multiplayer grade cap.
No offline version is planned
Nintendo has directly confirmed that an offline edition of Mario Kart Tour is not scheduled for release. That differs from games that receive a final downloadable version allowing some content to remain playable after online support ends.
The decision means Mario Kart Tour will not simply lose multiplayer features. The entire game is expected to become inaccessible once the service closes.
Some of its courses and ideas have appeared elsewhere in the Mario Kart series, but that does not preserve the mobile game’s progression, character collection or tour structure.
Players have until late September
Mario Kart Tour remains playable for several more weeks, giving players time to revisit courses, use remaining rubies and complete any personal goals before the shutdown.
The announcement follows another major mobile-game closure scheduled for this fall. Square Enix will also end service for Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis in October.
For Mario Kart Tour players, however, September 29 is the final deadline. With no offline version planned, there will be no way to continue playing after Nintendo switches off the servers.
