GTA 5 has joined the GTA+ Games Library, giving subscribers another way to access Rockstar’s long-running open-world game while attention continues to build around GTA 6.
The timing is notable, but it should not be overstated. This is not a new GTA 6 trailer, a PC announcement or a pre-order reveal by itself. Instead, it is another sign that Rockstar is keeping the Grand Theft Auto ecosystem active as the next mainline entry moves closer.
GTA 5 remains central to Rockstar’s current lineup
Even years after its original release, GTA 5 continues to anchor a large part of Rockstar’s player base through GTA Online and modern console versions. Adding it to the GTA+ Games Library strengthens that loop by giving subscribers a direct way to revisit the game or keep playing without a separate purchase.
For players who are already subscribed to GTA+, the addition makes the service more useful. For players waiting for GTA 6, it also gives Rockstar a way to keep the franchise visible without needing to reveal major new information every week.
How GTA+ keeps the franchise active before GTA 6
GTA 6 is still the real focus for most fans. The game remains scheduled for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Rockstar has now given players a clearer path toward the next stage of the rollout. GTA 5 joining GTA+ does not change GTA 6’s platform plan, release timing or pre-order details.
Still, the move makes sense. Rockstar can use GTA+ to keep current players engaged, bring lapsed players back into the series and maintain momentum before the next major announcement cycle.
