Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition Launches October 1 With Story Expansion and Roguelike Mode

Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition launches October 1 with Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted, a free update and a $14.99 upgrade path.

Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition launches for PS5 on October 1, 2026, combining the base game with the new Echoes of Sekigahara story expansion, the repeatable Most Wanted mode and additional post-launch content. The Complete Edition is priced at $69.99 in the United States, while existing owners can add the new Complete Edition content through a $14.99 upgrade.

Regional timing: PlayStation lists October 1 as the main release date for patch v2.0 and the new Complete Edition content, with the patch arriving on October 2, 2026 in some territories, including Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

The October release is not only a repackaging of Atsu’s original campaign. Echoes of Sekigahara adds another story chapter and location, Most Wanted turns the combat into shorter roguelike-style runs, and a separate free update will add quality-of-life features for all existing owners.

What Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition includes

For new buyers, Complete Edition includes the Ghost of Yōtei base game, the content previously offered through the Digital Deluxe Edition, Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted and the additional extras announced for the October release.

  • Echoes of Sekigahara: a new single-player narrative expansion.
  • Most Wanted: a separate single-player combat survival mode with roguelike-style progression.
  • Digital Deluxe content: the bonus equipment and other items previously included with that edition.
  • Additional extras: new Watanabe Mode music, Photo Mode stamps, New Game Plus cosmetics and new trophies.

A physical PS5 version is also scheduled for October 1. PlayStation has announced the physical release, but buyers who specifically care about whether every component is stored on the disc should check the final packaging and storefront details before purchasing.

How much does the Complete Edition upgrade cost?

The full Complete Edition is listed at $69.99 in the United States. Players who already own Ghost of Yōtei can purchase the Complete Edition upgrade for $14.99 instead of buying the full game again.

Regional prices can differ. Existing owners should also distinguish the paid Complete Edition upgrade from the free October update: the free patch adds general features, while the new story expansion and Most Wanted are part of the paid Complete Edition content.

Echoes of Sekigahara expands Atsu’s story

Echoes of Sekigahara revisits Atsu’s past through events connected to Sekigahara. Its story moves between present-day events and flashbacks, adding another chapter rather than simply replaying material from the original campaign.

The expansion introduces a new valley controlled by a group known as the Vipers and brings Atsu back into contact with Nagato, a figure connected to her past. PlayStation also says players will encounter new enemies and gain access to additional heavy weapons, armour sets and dyes.

Some story details are being held for later, so the complete size and structure of the expansion have not yet been disclosed. What is confirmed is that Echoes of Sekigahara is a new narrative addition with its own location, characters and equipment rather than a cosmetic anniversary bonus.

Most Wanted turns the combat into repeatable roguelike runs

Most Wanted approaches replayability differently. The new single-player mode is built around combat runs in which players pursue targets, defeat enemies and earn perks that affect the rest of the run.

Those runs can also unlock additional playable characters, with different characters supporting different combat approaches. That should give the mode more variety than a conventional survival arena built around Atsu alone.

The important distinction is that Most Wanted is a separate single-player addition. It is not a replacement for Ghost of Yōtei’s Legends multiplayer content; instead, it repurposes the game’s combat systems for shorter sessions with their own progression loop.

All owners receive a free October 1 update

A free update will launch alongside Complete Edition for everyone who owns Ghost of Yōtei. Its headline addition is a transmog system, allowing players to use the appearance of one piece of equipment without being tied to its statistics.

The update also adds Beauty of Yōtei, a presentation mode that displays scenes from the game’s environments, together with other quality-of-life additions. These free features do not include Echoes of Sekigahara or Most Wanted, which remain part of the paid upgrade and Complete Edition.

New buyer or existing owner: which option applies?

Player Option US price
New player Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition $69.99
Existing owner Complete Edition upgrade $14.99
Existing owner who does not buy the upgrade Free October 1 update Free

For new players, Complete Edition is the single package containing the base game and the newly announced paid additions. Existing owners only need the upgrade if they want Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted and the other Complete Edition content.

The October release arrives almost exactly one year after launch

The original Ghost of Yōtei launched for PS5 on October 2, 2025. Complete Edition arrives on October 1, 2026, putting the expanded release almost exactly one year after Atsu’s first outing.

October is already a busy release period, and Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition is included in GameTechReport’s 2026 game release calendar. For returning players, the main decision is whether the new story chapter and repeatable Most Wanted mode justify the $14.99 upgrade.
