Gears of War: E-Day launches on October 6, 2026, with day-one support for DLSS 4.5, NVIDIA Reflex, and ray-traced rendering features on compatible GeForce RTX systems. The multiplayer beta starts with Early Access from August 6–10, followed by an Open Beta for all eligible players from August 13–17 on Xbox Series X|S and PC.

NVIDIA is the game’s exclusive PC technology partner, but the PC version is not limited to GeForce-specific features. Xbox and The Coalition say the game is being optimized across a broad range of hardware and will also support AMD FSR, Intel XeSS, Unreal Engine TSR, and Advanced Shader Delivery on compatible systems.

The new entry takes place 14 years before the original Gears of War, following Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago during the first Locust emergence. Alongside the origin-story campaign, the game includes multiplayer through the new Horde Siege PvE mode and a refined version of the series’ Versus PvP.

The PC version is being built with Unreal Engine 5 and DirectX 12. The Coalition is using the engine’s newer rendering systems for real-time destruction, volumetric effects, larger set pieces, and more detailed environments.

DLSS 4.5, Reflex, and ray tracing features at launch

On supported GeForce RTX hardware, the full game will include DLSS Super Resolution, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, and NVIDIA Reflex. Super Resolution and frame generation are intended to improve frame rates and reconstructed image quality, while Reflex is designed to reduce PC latency and improve input responsiveness.

The ray-tracing implementation uses MegaLights for shadows from as many as 100 light sources, while Lumen handles global illumination and ambient occlusion. NVIDIA says the RT cores in GeForce RTX GPUs will accelerate those effects.

Players using other supported hardware will still have several scaling options. Xbox confirms support for AMD FSR, Intel XeSS, and Unreal Engine TSR. The game will also use Advanced Shader Delivery on compatible systems and storefronts to reduce first-run shader compilation delays and shader-related stutter.

Gears of War: E-Day beta runs August 6–10 and August 13–17

Early Access runs from August 6 to August 10. It is available to eligible players who pre-order the game on Xbox Series X|S or Steam, as well as Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members. The second weekend is an Open Beta from August 13 to August 17 for all players on eligible platforms, with no pre-order required.

The PC beta will include DLSS Super Resolution and NVIDIA Reflex, but it will not contain the complete RTX feature set planned for the final release. It should still provide an early indication of performance, image quality, and responsiveness on supported PC configurations.

NVIDIA added Game Ready support for the E-Day beta in GeForce driver 610.88. The same release also adds support for Halo: Campaign Evolved and Mistfall Hunter, with seven fixes documented in NVIDIA’s official release notes.

The beta is therefore the more useful checkpoint for players deciding whether their current system is ready for the game. The October launch will add the wider DLSS 4.5 and ray-tracing feature set, while alternative upscaling technologies will remain available for supported non-NVIDIA hardware.
