Forza Horizon 6 is coming to PlayStation 5 on January 26, 2027, moving beyond the 2026 release window Playground Games originally announced. The Xbox Series X|S and PC versions launched in May, so PlayStation players will arrive in a game that already has an active cross-platform community and a growing collection of player-made content.
Premium Edition buyers can start on January 21, when the first paid expansion also arrives. Panic Button, the studio behind the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5, is developing the port alongside Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios. A 60 FPS mode is confirmed, although the new PS5 trailer was recorded at 30 FPS.
Forza Horizon 6 PS5 editions, dates and prices
The US PlayStation Store offers three editions. Premium goes live first; Standard and Deluxe follow with the January 26 PS5 release.
| Edition | PS5 availability | US price |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Jan 26, 2027 | $69.99 |
| Deluxe | Jan 26, 2027 | $99.99 |
| Premium | Jan 21, 2027 | $119.99 |
Standard includes the base game. Deluxe adds the Welcome Pack and Car Pass. Premium includes both of those extras, VIP Membership, the Time Attack and Italian Passion car packs, and two expansions. A separate Premium Upgrade offers those extras to Standard and Deluxe owners, but requires the base game.
Every PS5 pre-order includes a pre-tuned Ferrari J50, unlocked after completing the prologue. Playground Games has also confirmed a disc edition through participating retailers. The prices above apply to the US digital store; regional prices and physical availability may differ.
The PS5 trailer uses 4K/30 FPS, with a separate 60 FPS mode planned
Playground Games recorded the new trailer on a standard PS5 in the 4K, 30 FPS Quality mode. The studio has confirmed a separate 60 FPS Performance mode but has not disclosed its rendering resolution or detailed any PS5 Pro-specific enhancements.
The Quality-mode footage cannot establish how well Performance mode will hold its frame rate in heavy traffic or during demanding races. Frame pacing, image quality and any resolution changes will need direct testing once the PS5 version is available.
Panic Button has worked on the series before, having developed the PS5 conversion of Forza Horizon 5. That experience is relevant to the new port, although it tells us little about how Forza Horizon 6 will perform on Sony’s hardware.
Cross-save works with Xbox and Steam
Cross-play and cross-save will connect the PS5 release with the existing Xbox and Steam versions. Players switching platforms can carry their progress across, but they will still need to purchase the game on each storefront. Cross-save does not provide cross-buy.
Community creations will also be shared from launch. PS5 players can access existing EventLab races, Prefabs, Garages, Estates, liveries and tuning setups, rather than waiting for a separate PlayStation collection to grow.
There are account and connectivity requirements to consider. PlayStation’s official listing specifies Microsoft account registration and a persistent internet connection to play. Online console multiplayer also requires PlayStation Plus.
Expansion 1 arrives before the standard PS5 launch
Xbox and PC owners won’t have to wait for the PlayStation release. Expansion 1 arrives on January 21 across all three platforms, alongside PS5 Premium early access.
The expansion is included with the Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade and Expansions Bundle, and will be available separately. Playground Games has not revealed its contents. The earlier expansion date does not change when Standard and Deluxe PS5 buyers can access the base game.
A free content update is also planned around the PS5 launch, although its contents have not been announced. It is separate from Expansion 1, which is paid unless already included in an eligible package.
