Buckshot Roulette is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox on PC and cloud, with the viral indie horror game joining Xbox Game Pass on launch day. The release also supports Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing players to access the game on compatible Xbox console and PC platforms without buying separate copies.
This is the first console release for Buckshot Roulette. The game built its reputation on PC with a compact but tense format that replaces the revolver traditionally associated with Russian roulette with a pump-action 12-gauge shotgun. Players must track live and blank shells, use items at the right moment and decide whether to aim at The Dealer or take a risk themselves.
Buckshot Roulette launches across Xbox, PC and cloud
The Xbox launch covers several ways to play. Buckshot Roulette is available natively on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, through the Xbox PC ecosystem and through supported cloud gaming devices. Game Pass subscribers can access it as part of the service rather than purchasing it separately.
That gives the game a much wider console audience than it previously had. Buckshot Roulette was already known for short, high-pressure sessions, but its arrival on Game Pass lowers the barrier for players who may have seen the game online without trying the PC version.
The central rules remain deliberately simple. A round begins with a mixture of live and blank shotgun shells. Players take turns making decisions based on the remaining ammunition and the items available on the table. The limited information creates a game built around probability, memory, bluffing and risk management rather than traditional shooting mechanics.
Xbox Play Anywhere connects the console and PC versions
The release includes Xbox Play Anywhere support. Players who acquire the game through the Xbox ecosystem can use the same entitlement on supported Xbox consoles and Windows PCs without purchasing both versions separately.
The feature is particularly useful for a game designed around relatively short sessions. Players can move between a console and PC depending on where they want to play, while Game Pass and cloud availability add further ways to access the Xbox release.
Xbox Wire also confirms crossplay between Xbox platforms. The announcement does not describe crossplay with the existing Steam version, so players should not assume that every PC and console storefront shares the same multiplayer pool.
Online multiplayer supports up to four players
Buckshot Roulette can be played alone against The Dealer, including its Double or Nothing score-attack mode, but the Xbox version also includes online multiplayer for up to four players.
Multiplayer changes the pace of the game by adding human bluffing and unpredictable decisions to the shell-counting system. A player may know the odds of the next shell being live, but must also account for opponents using items, misleading the table or taking a risk that an AI-controlled character might avoid.
The developers expanded more than the number of seats when multiplayer was introduced. The table, player characters and presentation were adjusted for four participants, while multiplayer uses a different soundtrack from the single-player experience.
Despite the larger group, the basic tension remains the same. Every player is working with incomplete information, and a single decision can change who controls the shotgun, who loses a charge and who survives the round.
The viral indie horror game makes its console debut
Buckshot Roulette began as a small experimental horror project before growing into a widely recognized indie release. Its limited interface, underground nightclub setting and unsettling version of a familiar game of chance helped it stand out from more conventional horror games.
The Xbox version marks the first time the game has been released on a console. That makes the Game Pass launch more significant than a routine platform port: it introduces Buckshot Roulette to console players while including the single-player and multiplayer systems developed during its earlier PC life.
For existing Game Pass subscribers, the release is an easy way to see why the game became so visible online. For returning players, Xbox Play Anywhere and four-player multiplayer provide reasons to revisit the table on a different platform.
