Borderlands 4 Story Pack 2 Launches September 10 Alongside Loveless

Providence, Loveless the Hacker, Bounty Pack 5 and a free 10-level cap increase all arrive with Borderlands 4's September 10 update.

Borderlands 4 Story Pack 2 launches on September 10, taking players to the new Providence region while FL4K returns for a fight against Tediore. The same day also brings Loveless the Hacker as a separately purchasable Vault Hunter, Bounty Pack 5, and Version 1.10, which raises the maximum level cap by 10 for every player.

The September release is split across several pieces of paid content. FL4K and the Last Resort provides the Providence campaign, Loveless is sold separately as a playable Vault Hunter, and Bounty Pack 5 adds its own repeatable mission. The 10-level cap increase comes with Version 1.10 and does not require any of them.

Providence turns Tediore into the main threat

Providence is a remote tropical island that once served as a luxury retreat for the Electi, built beside an active volcano. Tediore has moved in to secure the island’s Ordonite deposits, sending an expedition led by five elite managers who report to Lieutenant Harmony. FL4K joins the player during specific missions as the hunt turns into a rescue operation for Mr. Chew.

Gearbox built Providence as a new biome rather than a variation on the Kairos regions. In a separate developer interview, the team said it started from the ground up with tropical pastels and an iridescent jungle, then gave Tediore its own combat identity for the island.

Tediore’s Deadframes use rough precursor exo-suits that keep fighting after their pilots are killed. Larger mechs can swap weapon attachments, strengthen nearby units and digistruct reinforcements. Tediore’s carrier can also store soldiers as data and materialize them when needed.

Providence’s volcano can trigger new world events. Gearbox says Ordonite-infused lava can throw molten rocks across the island, with impacts spawning minibosses. Ziplines run above the jungle canopy, opening higher routes and combat positions, while separate digiverse activities send players into Tediore servers to fight waves of enemies before those forces can materialize in the physical world.

Story Pack 2’s two Pearlescent weapons are the Astonisher, a Ripper shotgun, and the Quadratus, a Vladof heavy weapon. Gearbox is also adding 18 Legendary items, alongside the new missions, Providence-specific enemies and activities.

Loveless arrives alongside Story Pack 2

Loveless the Hacker also launches September 10. Gearbox is selling the FL4K and the Last Resort narrative content and Loveless separately, although both are included in the Vault Hunter Pack and Super Deluxe Edition.

Loveless is an ex-Anshin hacker turned assassin with high-end cybernetics and a digital virus of her own creation. The virus shares her mind and can be digistructed into a physical form, but Gearbox has not yet detailed her full skill set or combat loop. A dedicated Gearbox DevCast on September 3 is scheduled to provide the first deeper gameplay look.

For standalone purchases, 2K lists FL4K and the Last Resort at $19.99 and Loveless at $9.99. Those are US prices; regional pricing is due to appear in individual storefronts when the content launches.

Bounty Pack 5 brings Amara back to Elpis

September 10 also brings Bounty Pack 5: Amara and the Vile Shadows. Its repeatable mission sends players back toward Elpis and the Phase dimension as Amara investigates instability tied to one of Vile Lictor’s old laboratories. Gearbox says the story will go further into Siren lore while Amara deals with the possibility that her connection to the Phase has been permanently disrupted. Completing the mission also unlocks a Vault Hunter Skin usable by all Vault Hunters, a vehicle and an ECHO-4 Drone Skin.

The narrative portion adds a new boss, two mini-bosses and new Vile enemy types, with one Pearlescent weapon and six Legendary items available to earn. The separate Vault Card 5 adds 24 cosmetics and four rerollable pieces of Legendary gear. The narrative content and Vault Card are each listed at $5.99 in the US.

Version 1.10 raises the level cap for every player

Version 1.10 raises the Borderlands 4 level cap by 10 for every player on September 10. The increase is part of the game update and does not require Story Pack 2, Loveless or Bounty Pack 5.

The update also changes how older DLC is sold. Story Pack 1 and Bounty Pack 2 will be broken into individually purchasable components. On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, owners of those older pieces will need to redownload the relevant content from their platform storefront on September 10 to keep accessing it. The requirement applies to Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, C4SH the Rogue, Legend of the Stone Demon and Vault Card 2.
