This editorial policy explains how GameTechReport selects, researches, prepares, reviews, publishes, and updates its coverage.
Story selection
We prioritize developments that provide clear value to readers, including major releases, platform changes, technical updates, hardware announcements, significant sales milestones, compatibility issues, and material developments affecting games or the wider industry.
Not every press release, promotional post, character spotlight, minor patch, rumor, or social media reaction warrants a separate article. Editorial relevance, source quality, novelty, reader usefulness, and possible duplication with existing coverage are considered before publication.
Sources and attribution
Whenever possible, reporting is based on primary sources such as official announcements, developer posts, platform documentation, release notes, regulatory filings, or direct company communications.
Specialist publications and other secondary sources may be used when they provide original reporting, additional context, technical analysis, or access to information not available through a primary source. Articles identify or link to the principal sources used.
Automation and artificial intelligence
GameTechReport may use automated systems and artificial intelligence to assist with source monitoring, duplicate detection, topic classification, research organization, formatting, metadata preparation, and initial drafting.
Automation does not independently publish articles or make final editorial decisions. Every article is reviewed by a human editor before publication.
Human review and fact-checking
The editor checks the central claims against the cited sources and verifies material details such as names, dates, versions, platforms, prices, specifications, and availability. Titles, images, categories, metadata, and possible duplication with existing coverage are also reviewed.
A draft may be revised, delayed, or rejected when its sources are insufficient, its claims cannot be verified, or the topic does not meet the site’s editorial standards.
Accuracy and verification
We aim to publish accurate information supported by the cited material. Confirmed facts should not be presented as rumor, and unverified claims should not be presented as established fact.
When reports conflict or information remains incomplete, the article should make that uncertainty clear. Headlines and metadata should accurately represent the underlying story and should not introduce unsupported platforms, features, dates, figures, or claims.
Corrections and updates
Material factual errors are reviewed and corrected when reliable evidence is available. When a correction changes the meaning of a report, the update may be identified clearly within the article.
Existing articles may also be updated when a development is a direct continuation of the same event and an update is more useful than publishing a near-duplicate article. Separate articles may be published when the same game, company, or product is involved in a genuinely different event with a distinct reader and search intent.
Editorial independence
Editorial decisions are based on relevance, accuracy, and reader usefulness rather than requests for coverage. Advertising, partnerships, affiliate relationships, review access, or promotional material do not determine the factual conclusions of an article.
Sponsored material is identified clearly where applicable and is handled separately from independent editorial coverage.
Authorship and privacy
GameTechReport may allow contributors to publish under a pen name when there is a legitimate privacy reason. A pen name does not change our standards for sourcing, verification, corrections or editorial accountability. Biographical experience described on author pages reflects the contributor’s real professional background and areas of experience.
Where a contributor uses a pen name for privacy, profile imagery may be illustrative rather than identity-verifying. Author pages are intended to explain a contributor’s background, coverage areas and published work without requiring disclosure of private personal information. For current author information, see our About page and Paul Davis’s author profile.
