Xbox Series X and S Prices Rise by Up to €200 in Europe and £170 in the UK

Microsoft’s latest Xbox price increase lifts the disc-drive 1TB Series X to €799.99 in Europe and £669.99 in the UK.

Microsoft’s latest Xbox console price increase is now in effect, with substantially larger changes in Europe and the United Kingdom than the dollar-denominated increases in the company’s original announcement suggested. The 1TB Xbox Series X with a disc drive now costs €799.99 in Europe and £669.99 in the UK, while the entry-level 512GB Series S has risen to €499.99 and £429.99.

The largest proportional increase affects the 1TB Series S, which is now 50% more expensive in Europe and about 48.6% more expensive in the UK. The 512GB Series S has risen by roughly 43% in both regions, substantially narrowing its former position as the lowest-cost entry point into the current Xbox generation.

Microsoft points to memory and storage costs

Microsoft announced worldwide price changes effective August 1, setting the increase at US$100 for 512GB models and US$150 for 1TB models. The company said storage and memory costs are now more than 2.5 times higher than before and could double again by autumn 2027.

The update also includes the discontinuation of the 2TB Xbox Series X model. Microsoft is directing buyers toward financing, trade-in and certified refurbished options as the higher prices reach retail markets.

What the increase means for Xbox buyers

Console hardware normally becomes cheaper as a generation matures, which makes this late-cycle increase especially notable. The Series S still costs less than the Series X, but its new price is much further from the budget-focused position that helped define the console at launch.

Existing owners are not losing access to their games, accessories or subscriptions because of the hardware adjustment. For new buyers, however, the higher entry price makes discounts, bundles and refurbished stock more important than before.

The increase follows a particularly weak U.S. hardware-sales month for Xbox, although the new pricing is a separate development.
