The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered launches on September 29, 2026, while gamescom Opening Night Live has given Songs of the Past its first substantial reveal. CD PROJEKT RED confirmed the expansion’s new region of Letten, Nintendo Switch 2 support, new enemies and additional combat options for Geralt.
Remastered arrives first, modernizing the base game before the expansion. Songs of the Past follows in 2027, with Letten, Nintendo Switch 2 support and several of Geralt’s new combat tools now confirmed.
The Witcher 3 Remastered Launches September 29
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered will launch on September 29, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. CD PROJEKT RED describes it as a free upgrade for existing owners on qualifying platforms rather than a separate remake.
The update includes upgraded visuals, improved textures and lighting, ray-tracing improvements, revised combat animations, changes to traversal and movement, an adaptive combat camera and a redesigned skill tree. CD PROJEKT RED has also confirmed transmogrification, an expanded photo mode, new finishers and broader gameplay improvements.
A native Nintendo Switch 2 version of Remastered will launch on the same day. The Witcher 3 is also coming to Battle.net through a new partnership between CD PROJEKT RED and Blizzard Entertainment.
Another change takes effect ahead of Remastered itself: CD PROJEKT RED says all current owners of The Witcher 3 now gain access to Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine at no additional cost.

Songs of the Past Reveals Letten and a New Chain Weapon
Songs of the Past will take Geralt to Letten, a brand-new region described as an apparently peaceful land shaped by rural traditions, harvests and festivals while hiding a darker threat beneath the surface.
Xbox’s gamescom coverage identifies Letten as Dandelion’s homeland. Geralt travels there alongside his longtime friend for a personal matter before becoming involved in the danger surrounding the region.
The expansion introduces never-before-seen monsters and additional combat options. New mutagens are planned, while Geralt will also gain a chain weapon designed in part for crowd control. The weapon deliberately references the opening cinematic of the original Witcher game.
Songs of the Past remains scheduled for 2027 as a paid expansion. Its confirmed platforms are now PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. CD PROJEKT RED and Fool’s Theory continue to co-develop the project.
Songs of the Past Still Has No Exact 2027 Release Date
CD PROJEKT RED has not announced an exact 2027 release date for Songs of the Past, its final price, expected playtime, PC system requirements or console performance modes.
Save compatibility and progression requirements also remain unclear. CD PROJEKT RED is continuing guided gamescom presentations and REDstreams during the event, so some of those details may still emerge before the show ends.
Gamescom Fills In the Expansion’s Missing Details
When GameTechReport covered the original Songs of the Past announcement, CD PROJEKT RED had confirmed Geralt’s return, a 2027 release window and co-development with Fool’s Theory, but little about the setting or new gameplay. Gamescom has now answered the biggest of those questions by revealing Letten and showing how Remastered fits into the roadmap.
After Songs of the Past, CD Projekt Red is targeting 2028 for The Witcher 4. Ciri leads the new saga, and more than 500 developers are now working on the project.
The expansion is arriving unusually late in The Witcher 3’s life. The base game launched in 2015 and has now sold more than 65 million copies, giving CD PROJEKT RED a large returning audience more than a decade after Geralt’s original adventure.
