Valorant’s Breeze gets put into timeout, and it’s all because of a stack of crates

Valorant players will have to wait a little longer before returning to Breeze, after Riot Games temporarily disabled the map because of a serious bug

Valorant players will have to wait a little longer before returning to Breeze, after Riot Games temporarily disabled the map because of a serious bug around the A Main box area. The good news is that the map does not appear to be gone for long, with Riot planning to bring it back in next week’s patch.

Breeze taken offline after crate bug spreads online

The problem came to wider attention after a clip posted by YouTube user Ryadinho showed utility interacting with a 2×2 stack of crates at A Shop as if the boxes were not there at all. In the video, abilities such as Reyna blinds and Owl Drone movement appeared to pass through the obstacle, giving defenders an obvious advantage in that spot.

The test shown in the clip was carried out from the defender side, so it is not clear whether the issue works the same way in both directions. Even so, the bug is severe enough that Riot has removed Breeze from all queues except custom games while it works on a fix.

Riot is targeting a return in patch 12.11

Riot says it is aiming to restore the map with patch 12.11, while also investigating a few other issues affecting patch 12.10. Agents and Live Balance Product Manager Tiffy Tsay said the team is working on a fix for the A Main box and is checking on additional bugs as well.

  • Breeze is disabled in all queues except custom games.
  • Riot expects the map to return in next week’s patch 12.11.
  • The issue centers on the A Main box and nearby crate stack.

Another patch 12.10 bug has already been fixed

This is not the only problem Valorant has run into since patch 12.10 went live. Riot recently dealt with the return of Cypher’s old “gun cam” exploit, which let players place a sidearm on the Spycam and fire remotely.

That bug had not been seen since the closed beta in 2020, and while it has now been patched, it added to the sense that this update has caused more trouble than Riot likely expected.

For now, players can still load into Breeze in custom games, but competitive and standard queues will have to do without the map until the fix arrives.
