Blizzard is rolling out another Diablo 4 update on Tuesday, May 26, and this one is focused squarely on fixes. The patch closes a handful of quest blockers, corrects reward issues, and shuts down several exploits tied to War Plans, including a setup that could flood the game with loot goblins or let players repeatedly fight the Amalgam of Rage.

What the patch is targeting

The new notes read like a cleanup pass after a busy stretch for Diablo 4. Blizzard is fixing problems that could stall progression, adjusting rewards that were being handed out incorrectly, and removing a few player-friendly loopholes that had slipped through.

The headline change for many players is the end of the War Plans tricks. Those exploits could be used to respawn enemies in unusual ways, which in turn allowed some players to generate absurd numbers of goblins or keep boss fights going far longer than intended.

The most notable exploit fixes

War Plans is doing a lot of work in this patch, but not in the way players were using it before. Blizzard is stopping the methods that made those repeated enemy spawns possible, along with a few other abuse cases.

  • Prevents the “infinite goblin” War Plans interaction.
  • Blocks the method used to summon the Amalgam of Rage repeatedly.
  • Stops players from transfiguring the same aspect onto an item twice.
  • Prevents equipping multiple unique charms at the same time.

For players who were not using those workarounds, the practical impact is simple: fewer broken edge cases and a more stable endgame loop.

Quest and reward fixes

Beyond the exploit cleanup, Blizzard is also correcting several issues that were interrupting normal play. That includes problems with progression in story and side content, plus a few reward bugs that could leave players short-changed.

Some of the more useful fixes include the following:

  • Obols from higher Torment-level bags were dropping below the intended amount.
  • Replacing the Helltide Blood Maiden with Duriel will now grant the correct Grim Favors.
  • Choron War Plans modifiers will no longer stop the Artificer’s Obelisk from spawning properly at the end of Pit runs.
  • The Lord of Hatred mission “Death” now has the missing bridge it needs.
  • Players should no longer be able to soft-lock themselves during “The Initiate.”

One particularly awkward fix lands in the Vessel of Hatred side quest “Scales of History,” which previously required an Elixir even though Elixirs were removed from Diablo 4 with the expansion’s progression changes. That quest can now be completed without one.

Smaller fixes and tooltip cleanup

The patch also addresses a few combat and presentation issues. Blizzard is fixing a lingering debuff in the Tormented Echo of Duriel fight, making sure Barbarian’s Lunging Strike correctly creates Dust Devils, and adjusting Artificer’s Favor progression for lower Tower tiers when players have already reached higher ones.

There is also a tooltip correction for Ball Lightning, which now has its Core skill tag restored. That was already resolved in an earlier hotfix, so this patch appears to be cleaning up the text to match the live behavior.

For now, the note that stands out most is what is not in the update: there are no balance changes listed here. Blizzard seems content to leave class tuning alone in this patch and focus on stability, progression, and exploit removal instead.

What happens next

Diablo 4 patch 3.0.3 arrives on Tuesday, May 26. Blizzard has also scheduled a Sanctuary Sitdown Q&A for Thursday, May 28, where developers will take questions in the Diablo Discord.

That should give players a clearer look at what is coming next for Lord of Hatred, especially now that this update is doing the housekeeping work first.
