The Witcher 3 Gets New Expansion ‘Songs of the Past’ With Geralt Returning

CD Projekt RED has unveiled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt downloadable content “Songs of the Past” , marking the first Witcher Wild Hunt expansion since Blood

CD Projekt RED has unveiled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt downloadable content “Songs of the Past”, marking the first Witcher Wild Hunt expansion since Blood and Wine arrived in 2016. The new adventure is set for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC in 2027, with Fool’s Theory co-developing the project alongside CD Projekt RED.

A new Geralt adventure is on the way

The expansion will bring players back to Geralt of Rivia for another standalone journey. CD Projekt RED says the DLC is a brand-new adventure for the legendary monster slayer, but details about the story and gameplay have not been shared yet.

More information about Songs of the Past is planned for the late summer, so this reveal is more of a first look than a full breakdown.

What was confirmed

  • Title: Songs of the Past
  • Game: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC
  • Release window: 2027
  • Co-development: Fool’s Theory

The Witcher 3 still has a long tail

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remains one of CD Projekt RED’s biggest success stories. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG.

The studio says the game has sold more than 60 million copies, which helps explain why any new content announcement for Geralt still carries weight nearly a decade after launch.
