Forza Horizon 6 has wasted no time turning its launch momentum into a strong Steam performance. Despite some familiar complaints about the series’ formula, the latest entry is already climbing into the platform’s most-played games list, helped by a mix of flashy additions, broad appeal and the kind of open-world racing sandbox that continues to draw a huge audience on PC.
Into Steam’s top tier
SteamDB data shows the game pushing past 300,000 concurrent players, placing it in Steam’s top five most-played games at the time of writing. That puts it alongside long-running heavyweights and ahead of several other major live games currently drawing attention on the platform.
The result is notable not just because of the raw player count, but because it reinforces how consistently strong the Horizon sub-series has become for Xbox and PC. Even as the franchise leans into a familiar structure, it still clearly has enough pull to attract a large launch audience.
Why the series keeps landing
The appeal of Forza Horizon has always been its easier-going take on racing: fast cars, an open map, and plenty of room to mess around. Forza Horizon 6 keeps that formula intact, while adding enough spectacle to stand out from other racing games.
Some of the draw here comes from the kind of excess the series has become known for. Giant mechs, kei trucks and a soundtrack that includes Babymetal are all part of the mix, giving the game a slightly more chaotic identity than a standard racing sequel.
- More than 300,000 concurrent players on Steam
- Top five among Steam’s most-played games
- Ahead of titles such as Apex Legends and Slay the Spire 2
- Only trailing Dota 2, PUBG and Counter-Strike 2 at the time of writing
A strong start for the Horizon direction
The launch performance also adds to the sense that Horizon has become the more important branch of the Forza name. The main Motorsport series has faced uncertainty after layoffs at Microsoft and Turn 10, while the open-world spin-off continues to look like the more dependable crowd-pleaser.
That does not mean every part of the launch has been flawless. Playground Games has already outlined early fixes it plans to make, including work on drivatar AI difficulty, crash bugs and optimization. Those issues are now part of the usual post-launch tuning process, even for a game that is clearly off to a very strong start.
For now, though, the headline is simple: Forza Horizon 6 is already attracting a massive PC audience, and its opening numbers suggest the series still has plenty of fuel left in the tank.
