Gran Turismo 7 players have a new live event to watch this weekend, as the Gran Turismo World Series 2026 opens in Milan. The season begins in the historic Teatro Lirico Giorgio Gaber, near the Duomo, and marks the first time the World Series has taken place in Italy. Fans can follow the action live through Gran Turismo 7, Gran Turismo Live, YouTube, and Twitch.
A season opener with a strong headline race
The Milan round brings together some of the biggest names in competitive Gran Turismo. Former World Champion Valerio Gallo heads into the event with home support behind him, while reigning Nations Cup champion Jose Serrano arrives as the driver to beat after his strong 2025 form.
There are a few other notable storylines right from the start. Takuma Miyazono comes to Milan after competing in the Nürburgring 24H, Pol Urra continues his push after another standout season, and 18-year-old Samuel Moreno makes his Gran Turismo World Series debut.
Why this round matters
This is more than just an opening race. In a championship like this, the first round helps set the tone for the rest of the season, both in points and in momentum.
The event also splits into two different battles:
- Nations Cup: national pride and driver skill go head-to-head.
- Manufacturers Cup: brands compete through their teams and racing heritage.
That gives the Milan opener a broader edge than a single race result. It starts the title fight in two championship formats at once.
Manufacturers Cup rivalry adds more pressure
The manufacturer contest has its own set of familiar names. Defending champion Team Porsche returns with Serrano, and Porsche will be trying to keep hold of the crown.
Team Mazda is looking to bounce back after narrowly missing the title last year, with Urra leading that effort. Team Subaru also brings in a new face, British driver Callum Moxon, as the field resets for another season.
How fans can take part
Gran Turismo is also tying the live event into the game itself. Players who watch the streams in-game will unlock exclusive Stealth Model race cars. There are also prediction rewards and a Lap Time Challenge at Autodromo Nazionale Monza, giving fans a few ways to follow along beyond passive viewing.
The event page is also available for anyone who wants to track the weekend’s races and storylines more closely. The Manufacturers Cup begins at 15:00 UTC, followed by the Nations Cup at 17:30 UTC.
